My dedication to working with children and young people began with my own experiences as a child and young person, as I sought to understand myself and the experiences I encountered growing up.
This journey led me to pursue a career in social work, as well as serving as a youth worker in residential homes and gaining experience in a forensic mental health setting with adults. Working with older children and vulnerable adults revealed to me the lack of support and early intervention they had received in their early years, which significantly impacted upon their ability to self-soothe and self-care.
As a Specialist Senior Practitioner in the field of Child Protection and the Court Arena, I have worked extensively with children, young people, and their families, conducting investigations to determine whether a child is at risk of significant harm and implementing safe and effective planning in collaboration with both children and their parents.
Currently, my first-hand experience in Child Protection has shown me that children often lack the knowledge of how to keep themselves safe even, in some cases, with Children’s Services involvement. I aim to introduce social work interventions into educational provisions on a broad scale to minimise harm and prevent potential abuse without delay.
Through the Self- Caring is Sharing Concept, my objective is to bring definition to the term "Self-Caring” by my commitment to teaching children about emotional and mental well-being, focussing on building relationships with peers, family members, and professionals to create a supportive environment for all. I strive to normalise that every child knows who their many trusted adults are and that it is ok to reach out when times get tough.
This concept is founded and launched by Ryan Green, a fully qualified Specialist Child Protection and Court Social Worker, with additional experience in Mental Health, Youth Work and Trauma-Informed Holistic Therapy.
